Internal Auditor – Landfill

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Implement audit test procedures under the guidance of senior team members.

• Assess and analyze the effectiveness of the Company’s internal control framework to ensure accuracy, completeness of reporting, and compliance with Company policies, procedures, and standards.

• Conduct specified audit procedures to evaluate adherence to internal control standards.

• Organize audit activities and update the audit team on progress.

• Record audit test procedures, outcomes, and observations.

• Recognize, evaluate, and communicate exceptions related to policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and any weaknesses in internal controls.

• Foster strong relationships with business units, corporate management, and audit team members.

• Perform operational and compliance audits at landfill sites nationwide.

• Emphasize environmental compliance, regulatory obligations, and operational controls.

• Identify risks and opportunities for improvement.

• Execute other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 0-2 years of applicable experience.

• Preferred relevant certifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant certifications.

• Audit/accounting experience with a Big 4 firm or Fortune 500 company is preferred.

• Familiarity with Diligent, Workiva, ACL, IDEA, or other data analytics software is preferred.

• Candidates with a robust auditing background, especially in finance or internal auditing, are encouraged to apply.

• Travel by air, car, or other modes of transportation may be necessary, up to 50% of the time.
