This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Conduct coding and auditing for inpatient and outpatient services across various specialties.
• Execute coding and compliance audits for both physicians and mid-level providers.
• Generate audit reports and present findings to both internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Implement coding and documentation standards, including E&M, surgical documentation, CCI, CPT/HCPCS, and guidance from specialty associations.
• Educate physicians based on audit results and trends related to edits or denials.
• Complete coding audits for the coding work queue of co-partners.
• Collaborate with offsite auditors.
• Assess and report on the quality of physician documentation that supports selected codes and medical necessity.
• Comply with local and national coverage determinations, CCI, and payer-specific editing regulations.
• Ensure correct documentation and coding for split/shared services, teaching physician protocols, and client-specific quality assessment initiatives.
• Collect, analyze, and report on findings that fall short of applicable guidelines.
• Safeguard and disclose patient PHI in alignment with HIPAA regulations.
• Adhere to Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Limit access to PHI to the minimum necessary for completing assigned responsibilities.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the management team.
• High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.
• CPC or CCS coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of coding experience is essential.
• At least 2 years of auditing experience in a multi-specialty environment is required.
• Proficiency in using job-related software is a must.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
• Excellent problem-solving and creative skills, along with the capacity to make sound judgments and decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
• High integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must have a smartphone or electronic device capable of downloading applications for multifactor authentication and security purposes.
• Ability to follow instructions, collaborate with others, and manage stress effectively.
