Intermittent Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Provide interpreting services as necessary for students or potential students who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing.

• Ensure suitable accommodations within academic environments.

• Offer interpreting assistance during meetings with faculty and staff.

• Deliver interpreting services for university public programming.

• Be available to work some evenings and weekends as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or NAD-RID certification.

• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program from an accredited institution.

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), including Academic ASL.

• Command of a high register of the English language, encompassing spelling, grammar, and a broad vocabulary.

• Capability to align the language style with that of the consumers and the context.

• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Successful completion of a background check is required.

• Final candidates must successfully complete a background check.

• A drug screen or physical examination may be required during the post-offer process.
