Intermediate Software Engineer, Vulnerability Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and support backend functionalities for GitLab’s vulnerability management processes.

• Deliver features and enhancements with minimal supervision; engage in collaborative efforts for larger initiatives.

• Enhance the performance, dependability, and scalability of systems for security data ingestion and reporting.

• Work alongside frontend developers and contribute across the entire technology stack as necessary.

• Collaborate with engineers from various security teams as vulnerability data and workflows converge.

• Partner with Product Management and Product Design to uphold high standards of quality.

• Produce maintainable code that adheres to GitLab’s internal guidelines and best practices.

• Perform code reviews and engage with community contributions.

• Recognize technical debt and suggest as well as implement solutions.

• Take part in on-call duties for product operations, security operations, and urgent engineering challenges.

• Collaborate asynchronously with a small, distributed team and associated security groups.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in building and maintaining backend applications utilizing Ruby on Rails.

• Experience in delivering and sustaining software systems as part of a larger engineering team.

• Capable of investigating technical issues, seeking context when necessary, and working towards practical solutions.

• Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities within a distributed team environment.

• Eagerness to learn from others, share knowledge, and enhance technical skills.

• Frontend development experience, particularly with JavaScript or Vue.js, is advantageous.

• Background in Elasticsearch, graph databases, vulnerability management, application security, or related transferable skills is beneficial.
