Intermediate Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Develop code that adheres to established software testing criteria.

• Create software builds for deployment on target hardware from the VAS-X system's source code.

• Generate integration test specifications in line with project plans.

• Execute tests as outlined in specifications and document any failures.

• Produce FAT test results for each developed function.

• Compile system integration reports.

• Collaborate closely with the development team to design, build, and maintain reliable and efficient code using suitable Java frameworks or Oracle PL/SQL and Apex.

• Convert business requirements into data models and structures utilizing databases such as MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

• Craft complex, optimized SQL queries.

• Deploy, install, and configure software releases.

• Utilize Git for version control and collaborative coding.

• Troubleshoot and debug software applications.

• Provide technical support as needed.

• Assist with software solutions post-implementation, addressing bugs or issues as they arise.

• Document software solutions and systems comprehensively.

• Engage in quality reviews and testing processes.

• Facilitate user acceptance testing sessions with clients.

• Conduct application functionality and performance testing using tools like Postman.

• Employ Bash/Linux for scripting, system administration, and server management.

• Participate in cross-service activities and projects as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Customer Service Management, or Business Management.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience.

• Completion of Grade 12.

• Basic literacy skills.

• Proficiency in English: reading, writing, and speaking.

• IT Degree or Diploma is preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of Java, including J2EE, Spring, CAMEL, and related technologies.

• Familiarity with CSS and HTML.

• Practical knowledge of operating systems, particularly Linux.

• Strong understanding of SQL and industry-standard databases.

• Knowledge of J2EE containers and web servers.

• Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.

• Solid experience with RabbitMQ / ActiveMQ.

• Familiarity with Scrum/Agile methodologies.

• Proficient in Docker and Kubernetes deployments.
