Interiors Design & Release Engineer – Junior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Execute design, development, validation, timing, and production release at both component and system levels for cockpit interiors.

• Take ownership of early validation and component functionality.

• Monitor design to ensure that both system and vehicle-level functional goals are achieved.

• Conduct component and system-level validation testing.

• Oversee the overall component release process, which includes Bills of Material, CAD drawings, validation testing, engineering change management, Design Verification Plans, and testing.

• Issue engineering change notices as necessary.

• Review and approve Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs) and Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&Rs).

• Assist in prototype builds.

• Resolve any arising issues.

• Support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and launch production activities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Between 1 to 3 years of experience or general knowledge concerning Instrumental Panels, Doors, and Consoles.

• Understanding of hard plastic processes, including extrusion, injection, thermoforming, and compression.

• Familiarity with ABS, PP, electronic components, and fabrics (such as leather, cloth, and vinyl).

• Experience with supplier management and launching processes.

• Background in the automotive industry.

• Proficient in CAD software (NX, Catia V5, or similar).

• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (Teamcenter, Enovia, or others).

• Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DM/DFA, PPAP, and APQP.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Experience in the creation, management, and editing of Bills of Materials (BoMs/EBoMs).

• Advanced proficiency in English.

• Capacity to manage projects and supplier relationships.

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within cross-functional teams.

• Preferred: Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Shaining Problem Solving.

• Preferred: Experience in plant launches.

• Preferred: Knowledge or experience in commodities such as hard trim or seats.
