Integration Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop scalable and secure integration methodologies, including API-first, event-driven, batch/streaming, and canonical models.

• Oversee integrations from the discovery phase and requirements gathering through building, testing, go-live, and ongoing support.

• Manage dependencies and mitigate risks across various systems and teams.

• Design and construct APIs, including specifications, versioning, error management, and documentation standards.

• Promote the adoption and implementation of HL7 v2, FHIR, and X12 interoperability standards.

• Collaborate with data owners, security, compliance, product, engineering, and client stakeholders to synchronize data sharing, definitions, governance, and timelines.

• Facilitate high-stakes technical discovery sessions and formulate integration strategies, solution options, and trade-offs.

• Create integration and data migration runbooks along with observability practices for logging, monitoring, alerting, and data reconciliation.

• Lead root cause analysis and implement durable solutions for production issues.

• Establish testing strategies and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and continuity during migrations and throughout ongoing operations.

• Communicate integration status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.

• Escalate blockers with potential solutions and clear requests.

• Develop repeatable playbooks to elevate the technical standards.

• Build stakeholder trust, evaluate the integration portfolio, identify five high-impact improvements, refine reference architecture and standards, and take ownership of at least one complex integration milestone within the first 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in integration engineering, interoperability, technical consulting, or systems integration, preferably within healthcare, payer/provider networks, or health tech SaaS.

• Practical experience in designing and implementing integrations using HL7 v2 and/or FHIR.

• Knowledge of X12 transactions, including 270/271, 276/277, 834, and 835, as well as HIPAA-related considerations.

• Strong understanding of synchronous/asynchronous, batch, queues/events, and canonical model integration patterns.

• Capability to design and develop APIs and associated integration components.

• Proficiency with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and at least one modern backend language/framework such as Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.

• Experience with OAuth2/JWT and secure data exchange mechanisms.

• Proven track record of managing delivery outcomes, prioritizing tasks, navigating ambiguity, and driving measurable results in complex, multi-system environments.

• Demonstrated ability to align and influence cross-functional stakeholders effectively.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities across distributed systems.

• Ability to write technical specifications, interface agreements, runbooks, and executive-ready status updates.

• Familiarity with EHR workflows, interface engines/iPaaS, cloud platforms, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, SRE/observability, regulated environments, data governance, security reviews, or emerging agentic technology is a plus.
