This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Manage liability and property claims within assigned authority while under close supervision.
• Address coverage and liability matters in line with relevant state insurance laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Investigate and evaluate claims; confirm coverage; set and maintain reserves.
• Secure recorded statements and prepare/process correspondence, reports, and documentation.
• Gather information to assess liability and maintain claim files.
• Coordinate claim processing with other departments.
• Engage external experts to assist with investigations and potential recovery.
• Initiate contact with all parties involved in claims.
• Assess and negotiate claims, identify subrogation opportunities, and take necessary action.
• Set up and issue settlement payments using authorized methods or deny payment within authority.
• Address inquiries from policyholders, agents, insurance carriers, claimants, assigned experts, and others.
• Keep updated on state liability laws, motor vehicle codes, no fault/medical management/FPB laws, and bodily injury claims.
• Respond to intercompany arbitration applications with supervisor guidance and file contentions and supporting documentation.
• Conduct research and participate in industry-related and other training sessions.
• Provide assistance for property claims during periods of high volume.
• High school diploma or GED along with two years of relevant claims handling or customer service experience, or equivalent educational experience is required.
• A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is preferred.
• Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) is preferred.
• Acquire necessary licenses as mandated by state within 45 days for external applicants and 90 days for internal applicants.
• Must have access to internet service with minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
• Ability to adhere to the primary schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Eastern Time.
• Required to work rotating weekday evening and Saturday shifts based on business and service-level needs.
• Consistent and predictable attendance is essential.
• Familiarity with liability laws, motor vehicle codes, no fault/medical management/FPB laws, and bodily injury claims.
• Proficient in manual keying, data entry, and computer usage.
