Inpatient Hospital Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate documentation content for hospital and professional services to precisely code principal diagnoses, secondary conditions, procedures, social determinant codes, and drug administration.

• Assign codes for multiple encounters or sessions occurring on the same date and place of service across hospital and professional lines of business.

• Achieve monthly production and quality standards for procedures and surgeries assigned CPT codes.

• Implement code sequencing in accordance with payer-specific regulations.

• Analyze high-risk encounters for precise charge capture and identify charge gaps prior to encounter completion.

• Integrate payer-specific billing trends into daily reviews to minimize take backs.

• Support clinical documentation modifications through concurrent engagement to align with the level of service provided.

• Code hospital and professional sessions as part of daily responsibilities.

• Extract order diagnosis, patient type, and related information from the hospital information system.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred: Associate's degree.

• Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology.

• One of the following credentials: CCS, RHIT, RHIA; CRC preferred.

• 3-5 years of relevant experience.

• Familiarity with American Hospital Association guidelines, Current Procedural Terminology guidelines, payer-specific regulations, and drug administration coding.

• Understanding and application of M.E.A.T. criteria utilizing the ICD-10-CM transaction data set.

• Expertise in surgical coding across three or more surgery-based product lines.

• Strong knowledge of hospital information systems and complex filing schemas.

• Capability to code hospital and professional sessions.

• Ability to interpret medical record documentation and accurately assign codes across various specialties.
