Inpatient Coding Specialist – Facility

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluates documentation to accurately code diagnoses and procedures for inpatient hospital-related claims and data requirements.

• Analyzes clinical documentation to code diagnoses, evaluation and management (EM) levels, and surgical CPT codes for professional and technical claims and data requirements.

• Confirms the accuracy of MS-DRG and APC calculations.

• Extracts clinical data.

• Addresses diagnosis, EM level, surgical CPT, and/or PCS coding-related claims scrubber edits.

• Collaborates with client personnel and providers as necessary.

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient admissions or ICD-10-CM codes, professional and technical EM levels, and surgical CPT codes for physician consultations.

• Upholds commercially reasonable production rates while maintaining a consistent quality level of 95% or higher.

• Adapts to short-term assignments for up to two distinct clients.

• Engages in client meetings and training sessions hosted by Savista.

• Keeps up-to-date with current coding conventions.

• Executes other related tasks as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A valid AHIMA (American Health Information Association) credential or a valid AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) credential.

• At least one year of relevant, productive coding experience specific to the patient type being recruited for, and within the last six months.

• A passing score of 80% on designated pre-employment assessments.
