This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct high-quality hospital coding on inpatient accounts, encompassing Medicare/Non-Medicare cases, surgical procedures, medical treatments, cardiac cases, maternity and pediatric care, as well as trauma incidents.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 PCS, relevant governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and the documentation and billing requirements of third parties.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10/PCS codes to all services recorded in patient charts.
• Obtain correct documentation when services or diagnoses lack adequate recording.
• Strive to achieve and sustain a coding accuracy rate of 96% while ensuring high levels of productivity.
• Adhere to an average productivity standard of final coding one inpatient chart per hour, in accordance with client and management expectations.
• Comply with facility-specific policies and procedures.
• Review pending queues on a daily basis.
• Follow the facility's query policy and the CDI reconciliation process.
• Identify and communicate any charts that require rebills to the facility on a daily basis.
• Notify administrative staff immediately regarding coder downtime.
• Provide precise responses to physician and hospital inquiries concerning coding or billing within eight hours of the request.
• High School Diploma or equivalent credential.
• Must possess one of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS.
• A minimum of 5 years of coding experience in an Inpatient Facility.
• Proficient understanding of ICD-10 PCS, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third-party documentation and billing requirements.
• Familiarity with Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology is advantageous.
• Experience in Rehab Inpatient Facility coding with admissions (IRF/PAI) and discharges is a plus.
• An Associate's Degree is considered a benefit.
