Inpatient Coding Quality Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee, evaluate, and enhance the quality of coding processes, documentation, and compliance with coding standards and regulations.

• Design and execute coding quality assurance initiatives.

• Assess the precision, completeness, and conformity of medical coding practices.

• Ensure that coding practices are consistent with established coding conventions, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

• Review medical records, physician notes, and associated documentation to evaluate coding support.

• Create and provide coding education and training for coders, physicians, and healthcare professionals.

• Identify chances to optimize coding workflows and boost efficiency and accuracy.

• Set quality metrics and reporting frameworks for coding accuracy, productivity, and compliance.

• Collaborate with healthcare providers, coders, billing personnel, and stakeholders to address coding issues and clarify documentation requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding is mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years of medical coding experience is required.

• At least 1 year of quality assurance experience is preferred.

• Strong experience in inpatient coding is essential; experience in an academic setting is preferred.

• ICD-10 PCS coding experience is required.

• In-depth knowledge of medical coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.

• Familiarity with coding guidelines and regulations established by the AMA, CMS, and other pertinent organizations.

• Strong analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Capacity to work remotely Monday through Friday during Eastern Standard Time business hours.
