Inpatient Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review, assess, and encode documentation for inpatient medical records in a hospital setting.

• Choose and arrange the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes.

• Choose and arrange the appropriate ICD-9-CM procedure codes.

• Implement ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes as necessary for the transition to ICD-10.

• Hold primary responsibility for coding inpatient records.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is mandatory.

• At least 1 year of experience in hospital coding is required.

• One or more of the following certifications must be obtained upon hire: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, or CPC-H.

• A Coding Certificate program (accredited by AHIMA) is preferred.

• Experience in coding within a multi-hospital organization is preferred.

• Prior experience with remote coding is preferred.
