This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Precisely abstract data into the designated client electronic medical record systems.
β’ Allocate appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts in line with established workflows.
β’ Abstract and input coded data to fulfill hospital statistical and reporting needs.
β’ Assign Present on Admission indicators and determine discharge dispositions.
β’ Engage with physicians to resolve conflicting, vague, incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent clinical data.
β’ Relay documentation improvement prospects and coding challenges to the relevant personnel.
β’ Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and/or Revenue Cycle teams for account follow-up and reconciliation.
β’ Uphold the necessary productivity and quality standards.
β’ Maintain required coding credential standards.
β’ Provide schedule availability one month in advance.
β’ Commit to a minimum of 15β20 hours weekly when assigned to a project.
β’ Participate in assignments that may span from several days to a few months based on customer needs.
β’ A valid CCS credential is mandatory.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Trauma Level 1/Academic Teaching facility is required.
β’ At least 3 years of coding experience within the United States is essential.
β’ Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding is needed.
β’ The ability to maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher is necessary.
β’ Capability to meet productivity benchmarks and quality standards is required.
β’ Ability to assign Present on Admission (POA) indicators following AHA POA guidelines is essential.
β’ Knowledge of Official ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Guidelines for Coding, UHDDS guidelines, and CMS directives is required.
β’ Proficiency in querying physicians and addressing coding/documentation issues is needed.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
β’ Excellent collaboration and interpersonal abilities are required.
β’ Well-developed written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including attentive listening and meticulous attention to detail.
β’ Ability to motivate and direct oneself is necessary.
β’ Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
