Infrastructure Engineer – Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Engineer, manage, maintain, and enhance Milliman’s infrastructure platforms.

• Offer guidance and execute system modifications within data centers, network architecture, and enterprise platforms.

• Oversee infrastructure and network systems for any misconfigurations.

• Enhance system visibility, facilitate prompt remediation, and escalate issues to the relevant teams.

• Manage and optimize firewall systems, web gateways, segmentation tools, and remote access technologies.

• Handle and troubleshoot firewall rule sets, ACLs, and changes in policies.

• Deploy and manage secure remote access systems, VPN solutions, and ZTNA features.

• Address vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and secure configuration standards for operating systems, virtual machines, network devices, and other infrastructure elements.

• Collaborate with GCS IT, GCS IS, practice IT teams, and application owners.

• Deliver secure-by-default system patterns without hindering delivery.

• Maintain infrastructure systems and assist in collecting audit evidence.

• Engage in control validation and risk assessments.

• Tackle remediation tasks and sustain infrastructure documentation in line with security standards, system configurations, and operational procedures.

• Report directly to the GCS IT Manager of Infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in network infrastructure, systems engineering, or a similar security-focused position.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience securing enterprise infrastructure, including servers, data centers, firewalls, network controls, identity systems, and cloud-connected environments.

• Proficient with proxy technologies, VPN solutions, secure remote access, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) implementations.

• Experience in implementing, managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing firewall ACLs, access control solutions, and network proxy platforms.

• Familiarity with vulnerability management and remediation for Windows and/or Linux operating systems.

• Working knowledge of identity and access management principles, such as least privilege, MFA, privileged access controls, and role-based access.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Capability to convert security risks into actionable technical measures.

• Willingness to travel to data centers.

• Preferred: experience with system logging, EDR, orchestration and automation, IDS/IPS, and observability platforms like Splunk, Grafana, or LogicMonitor.

• Preferred: understanding of security frameworks and standards.

• Preferred: experience with Cisco, Check Point, Fortinet, and Palo Alto firewalls.

• Preferred: availability to work evening and weekend hours as needed or instructed.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration support or sponsorship.
