Senior Infrastructure Engineer, AI & ML

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain essential systems that support the data science initiatives at Penguin Random House.

• Design and take ownership of the key elements of the AWS infrastructure utilized across data science products.

• Establish standards for how individuals and AI agents modify infrastructure, including reviews, testing, and safeguards.

• Create self-service pathways to production for scientists, which encompass CI/CD pipelines, promotion gates, and automated triggers.

• Assist in ensuring the security, compliance, and reliability of cloud environments.

• Influence the platform roadmap by pinpointing infrastructure tasks that will facilitate scientists' work.

• Keep stakeholders updated on the progress of platform development.

• Collaborate closely with AI to enhance and manage the cloud platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and operating production systems.

• Proven history of designing infrastructure components or tools that have been adopted by other engineers or teams.

• Practical cloud experience, preferably with AWS.

• Capability to utilize AI agents for building and operating systems, demonstrated by shipped work.

• Excellent communication abilities and capacity to collaborate closely with data scientists and engineers.

• Experience managing infrastructure for machine learning or data-intensive workloads in production, such as model training, batch scoring, or model serving.

• Familiarity with defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) or Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and managing cloud costs for machine learning production systems (preferred).

• Experience with evaluation or error analysis of machine learning or large language model systems in production (preferred).
