Infection Preventionist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Dakota.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Infection Prevention and Control staff under leadership to achieve the goals and objectives of the Infection Prevention program.

• Assess trends and practices in infection control.

• Deliver educational programs for staff members.

• Perform surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and reportable illnesses.

• Analyze and present statistical data.

• Provide consultation on asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission, and related concerns.

• Oversee compliance with standards, regulations, strategies, and evidence-based practices.

• Assess and enhance patient/resident outcomes.

• Support research initiatives and undertake assigned special projects.

• Utilize computer programs and applications for data collection and analysis.

• Partner with operational teams and continually assess existing processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.

• An Associate’s degree along with 5 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a Bachelor’s degree.

• At least two years of experience in a clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, infection prevention, accreditation, or healthcare management environment is required.

• Fundamental understanding and practical knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology.

• Willingness to learn computer programs and applications for data collection and analysis.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Eagerness to seek new information and knowledge.

• Capability to think critically and solve problems effectively.

• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC®) or an equivalent is preferred.

• If the degree is in nursing, graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred.

• If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, and/or possess multistate licensure if in an NLC state.

• Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
