This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Carry out Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) tasks and perform electrical field evaluations in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and specific safety protocols of the site.
• Execute arc flash data collection and conduct surveys of electrical equipment, which includes identifying equipment, verifying nameplates, and gathering data on voltage, amperage, protective devices, conductors, and equipment ratings.
• Assess electrical equipment and systems for their condition, safety, maintenance needs, operational issues, and regulatory compliance.
• Detect and document electrical deficiencies, hazards, equipment statuses, maintenance issues, and findings from the field.
• Ensure safety while working around electrical equipment by adhering to LOTO procedures, approach boundaries, PPE requirements, energized electrical work practices, and site-specific protocols.
• Examine distribution systems, panels, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, disconnects, motors, and related industrial electrical frameworks.
• Conduct functional testing and observation of electrical and industrial equipment as necessary.
• Record field conditions through notes, photographs, equipment schedules, drawings, and other technical documentation.
• Assist in evaluating industrial maintenance practices, equipment reliability, and facility operations.
• Review material handling and conveyance systems for their condition, installation, operation, compliance with drawings, specifications, operational standards, and requirements.
• Assess mechanical, controls, plumbing, and other systems within the industrial facility project scope.
• Identify interactions between electrical, mechanical, controls, and material handling systems that may impact performance, reliability, safety, or maintenance.
• Prepare accurate technical field documentation and assessment reports.
• Utilize independent judgment to evaluate field conditions and formulate technical observations and recommendations.
• Travel to client facilities and industrial sites, approximately 50–75% of the time, for field assessments and technical data collection.
• Collaborate across industrial and commercial facilities as part of Bureau Veritas’ testing, inspection, and certification services.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• A technical degree, trade school diploma, vocational training, or associate degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license is required, with a clean driving record and no significant MVA points or violations.
• Industry-recognized certifications, ongoing pursuit of certification, or equivalent professional credentials such as CxA, CCP, BCxP, CEM, NICET, NFPA-related certifications, or active trade licensure relevant to the discipline being supported.
• Must have previously been certified as a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) in accordance with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
• Experience in performing electrical work requiring arc flash PPE and adherence to electrical safety protocols.
• Background in conducting electrical equipment surveys, electrical data collection, or arc flash data gathering.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety regulations, QEW practices, electrical equipment identification, and methodologies for arc flash data collection.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, utility, commercial, or other complex facility environments.
• Capability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, nameplates, and other related technical documents.
• Proficiency in operating computers, tablets, and electronic data collection tools.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Willingness to travel to client sites.
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including night shifts and weekend assignments.
• Ability to work successfully from a remote location.
• Capability to travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client and project sites across the United States.
• Proficiency in writing technical reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to define problems, gather and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Understanding of and ability to evaluate industrial electrical, mechanical, controls, and material handling systems.
• Physical capability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, reach, communicate onsite, lift or move occasionally up to 40 pounds, operate tablets/computers, and drive a motor vehicle.
