
Indirect Tax Technology – Automation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of indirect tax technology.
• Help with the upkeep and documentation of Tax Engine and Tax Compliance.
• Oversee automation and reporting tools including Vertex O, VITR, SAF-T, real-time reporting, and e-invoicing.
• Evaluate, document, and enhance processes and data flows.
• Utilize Power BI data analytics tools to boost efficiency in tax operations.
• Create and execute Alteryx workflows to simplify tax processes and enhance analytical capabilities.
• Manage production tax systems, resolve tax-related issues, and apply system updates in Oracle R12 EBTax.
• Address indirect tax, compliance, and e-invoicing challenges.
• Recognize opportunities for process enhancements and propose implementation approaches.
• Implement and support tax compliance solutions, including e-invoicing and real-time reporting.
• Cultivate expertise in tax-related software and conduct training sessions.
• Serve as a liaison among Tax, Finance, and IT for tax technology projects.
• Document, share, and test shared tax system specifications.
• Execute other assigned tax initiatives.
• Participate in an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in tax technology, focusing on indirect tax systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of VAT regulations and systems (VAT/GST).
• Proficient in Vertex O-Series, Vertex Returns, Alteryx, SQL, and RPA.
• Experience with tax technology tools to enhance tax compliance, automate workflows, and improve data accuracy and reporting.
• Strong background in Tableau, Power BI, and data integrity tools.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with SharePoint and/or Power Automate.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with a strong focus on controls and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work somewhat flexible hours to accommodate global team time zones.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.
• Preferred: knowledge of RPA, AI, or machine learning applications in taxation.
• Preferred: project management certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or LEAN.
• Preferred: professional tax or accounting certifications like ACA, CA, or CTA.
• Preferred: Alteryx certification.
• Preferred: experience with SQL or other database technologies.
• Preferred: tax engine certifications such as Vertex or Thomson Reuters.
