In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarian, DVM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice care, palliative support, quality-of-life assistance, pain and symptom management, and compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments, functioning within a mobile veterinary care framework.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, administer medications, provide sedation, perform euthanasia, and execute other veterinary services in accordance with the role's scope and relevant regulations.

• Educate and support pet families in making informed decisions regarding quality-of-life, end-of-life care options, euthanasia, and aftercare processes.

• Maintain precise and timely veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Engage in communication with pet families, the Heartstrings veterinary medical team, scheduling and support staff, as well as referring veterinary professionals.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the movement of companion animals.

• Uphold clinical independence, sound medical judgment, professionalism, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or recognized veterinary program.

• Possess, or be eligible to obtain, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.

• Valid U.S. driver's license is required.

• Capability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfort working independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Strong ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during sensitive discussions regarding pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life matters.

• Availability for rotating weekend shifts.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as necessary.

• Capability to meet physical and logistical demands in diverse residential settings.

• Successful completion of required background checks and motor vehicle record checks following hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
