Human Research Protection Program Education and Accreditation Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Identify, implement, and assess educational programs for the UNLV research community.

• Establish objectives, plan, organize, and direct educational initiatives related to research involving human subjects.

• Actively represent the HRPP at UNLV through both proactive and on-demand educational efforts.

• Oversee communications from the HRPP to the research community in collaboration with the Director.

• Develop and sustain institutional standard operating procedures and forms.

• Execute process modifications stemming from the development of SOPs and forms.

• Manage the Office of Research Integrity's web pages.

• Serve as the primary contact for the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protections Programs (AAHRPP).

• Supervise the reaccreditation process through institutional evaluations, gap analyses, policy and SOP revisions, site visits, interactions with associations, and annual reporting.

• Conduct quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the HRPP.

• Collaborate within the HRPP unit and with other units, including RICO and compliance officers.

• Implement ongoing program enhancements identified through QA/QI initiatives.

• Provide education for researchers and HRPP staff, collaborating with the Assistant Director on training for IRB members.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in human subjects research administration.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

• IRB Professional certificate (CIP) to be obtained prior to the start of employment.

• Experience with AAHRPP accreditation and/or reaccreditation processes.

• Proven experience in delivering educational programs to researchers.

• Demonstrated understanding of research administration challenges and compliance with human-subjects regulations.

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to human-subjects research.

• Familiarity with ethical research practices, various research designs and methodologies, HRPP operations, and best practices.

• Expertise in the Common Rule, FDA regulations, and guidance from OHRP and FDA.

• Proven track record as an effective educator.

• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational capabilities.

• Experience in facilitating both asynchronous and synchronous education within a complex university setting.

• Demonstrated experience in collaborating across units on shared goals and projects.

• Ability to navigate federal, state, and local regulations alongside campus and system-wide policies and procedures.

• Capacity to plan, develop, coordinate, and assess educational programs.

• Skill in translating complex concepts for non-expert audiences.

• Ability to maintain positive working relationships at all organizational levels.

• Proficiency in effective communication with diverse groups.

• Ability to balance stakeholder needs in HRPP projects.

• Preferred: experience utilizing Cayuse Human Ethics.

• Preferred: educational background in pedagogy and educational practices, especially for adult learners.

• Preferred: knowledge of accessibility considerations, including document accessibility and video captioning.

• Preferred: basic understanding of LMS, particularly Canvas/Instructure.

• Preferred: experience in conducting HRPP QA/QI activities.

• Preferred: familiarity with digital tools for delivering educational programs.

• Preferred: ability to analyze situations and data trends.

• Preferred: capability to design and implement changes to HRPP/IRB processes and procedures.

• Preferred: 7–10 years of experience.

• Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.
