Human Factor Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Utilize human-centered design principles to enhance workforce readiness, user adoption, and optimize workflows within enterprise healthcare information systems and digital health technologies.

• Assess user interactions with technology to pinpoint workflow and usability issues.

• Propose solutions aimed at enhancing user enablement, training and onboarding processes, peer support, and overall system performance.

• Contribute to centralized training and onboarding initiatives by analyzing learning requirements and creating user-focused enablement resources.

• Work in collaboration with super users and peer support networks to collect end-user feedback, encourage knowledge sharing, and uncover adoption obstacles.

• Perform workflow observations, usability assessments, and user feedback sessions.

• Aid in long-term staffing evaluations by analyzing user roles, workflow demands, and workforce trends.

• Examine both qualitative and quantitative user feedback, document outcomes, and suggest human-centered process enhancements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• At least 3 years of professional experience in supporting human-centered design, usability, workflow analysis, user adoption, training, or healthcare technology implementation projects.

• Proven experience in observing end users, collecting feedback, and identifying opportunities to enhance system usability, workflow efficiency, or workforce readiness.

• Background in supporting software implementations, digital transformation projects, or healthcare information systems.

• Capability to facilitate meetings, interviews, focus groups, or user feedback sessions with multidisciplinary stakeholders.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings and present recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in creating user guidance, job aids, training materials, or knowledge resources that facilitate technology adoption.

• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify user challenges and recommend process improvements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

• Preferred: Master’s degree; experience with Oracle Health (Cerner), Epic, or other enterprise EHR platforms; familiarity with VHA, VA, DoD, or other federal healthcare organizations; understanding of clinical workflows; knowledge of organizational change management; expertise in human-centered design and usability evaluation; awareness of Section 508 accessibility; experience with Super User, Peer Support, or End User Optimization programs.
