HPC Systems Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee, install, monitor, and sustain HPC/AI systems, which encompass compute nodes, storage, networking, and software stacks.

• Create and manage automation tools for system provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring tasks.

• Install, configure, and enhance job scheduling and resource management tools, such as Slurm.

• Assist in maintaining system security, managing patches, and troubleshooting operational challenges.

• Contribute to performance benchmarking, system tuning, and capacity planning efforts.

• Deploy and maintain widely used HPC/AI applications, software stacks, and technologies like MPI, containers, Spack, and modules.

• Document system administration processes and engage in knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Provide technical support to researchers by offering expertise and resolving escalated support requests.

• Engage in vendor coordination, system procurement, and management of hardware/software lifecycles.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 5–10+ years of experience in HPC/AI system administration.

• Profound understanding of HPC and AI technologies along with their software ecosystems.

• Practical experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Slurm within large-scale HPC/AI settings.

• Experience in a dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel within the USA approximately 4 times yearly.

• Must be a US citizen with the ability to access US government research facilities.
