πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Review medical records and health information, assigning the appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.

β€’ Identify primary diagnoses, comorbidities/complications, present-on-admission indicators, and sequence codes to establish the correct DRG.

β€’ Abstract necessary data elements for reporting and statistical purposes.

β€’ Implement industry standards for category coding and evaluate impacts such as SDOH and PSI.

β€’ Address complex inpatient edits and alerts by utilizing current guidelines.

β€’ Engage with Clinical Documentation Integrity team members regarding intricate clinical situations.

β€’ Convert medical records, diagnoses, procedures, and treatments into standardized codes.

β€’ Work together with the CDI team to harmonize clinical and coding practices.

β€’ Identify opportunities for documentation enhancement and seek clarification from physicians.

β€’ Input coded and abstracted data into designated systems.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

β€’ A minimum of 3 years of experience in code assignment within a healthcare environment performing comparable coding responsibilities.

β€’ Registered Health Info Tech, Registered Health Info Admin, Certified Professional Coder, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Coding Specialist Physician is required upon hire.

β€’ Proficient in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.

β€’ Familiarity with Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRG) and All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (APR-DRG).

β€’ Understanding of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), Hierarchical Conditions (HCC), and conditions affecting severity.

β€’ Experience with electronic medical/health systems and coding applications such as EPIC (CS-Link), EPIC HB/PB modules, Solventum 360Encompass, Solventum Standalone Encoder, and Select Coder.

β€’ Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical practices.

β€’ Ability to apply current coding guidelines and address complex inpatient edits/alerts.
