This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, along with compassionate euthanasia services in the designated service area.
• Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate within a mobile veterinary care setting.
• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, administer medications, perform sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary services in accordance with the position's scope and relevant regulations.
• Provide education and guidance to pet families regarding quality-of-life choices, end-of-life care alternatives, the euthanasia process, and aftercare considerations.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with pet families, the Heartstrings veterinary medical team, scheduling and support personnel, as well as referring veterinary professionals.
• Safely handle, position, and assist in the movement of companion animals.
• Uphold professionalism, clinical independence, sound medical judgment, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.
• Exhibit Compassion, Dignity, and Respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.
• Possess, or be eligible for, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.
• Valid U.S. driver's license required.
• Ability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.
• Comfortable working autonomously as a mobile veterinarian.
• Proficient in communicating with empathy and professionalism during pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life discussions.
• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted and assisting with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as necessary.
• Able to meet physical and logistical demands in various residential environments.
• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks after hiring and prior to the scheduled start date.
