This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, as well as compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.
• Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate in a mobile veterinary care setting.
• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary services in accordance with the position's scope and relevant regulations.
• Educate and support pet families in making quality-of-life decisions, exploring end-of-life care options, understanding the euthanasia process, and considering aftercare options.
• Keep precise, timely, and professional veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.
• Engage in communication with pet families, the Heartstrings veterinary medical team, scheduling and support teams, as well as referring veterinary professionals.
• Safely manage, position, and assist with the movement of companion animals during in-home visits.
• Uphold professionalism, clinical independence, sound medical judgment, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.
• Exhibit Compassion, Dignity, and Respect in interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or a comparable veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.
• Possess, or be eligible to secure, an active veterinary license in the states where services will be rendered.
• Hold a valid U.S. driver's license.
• Ability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.
• Comfortable working autonomously as a mobile veterinarian.
• Capable of communicating with empathy and professionalism during pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life discussions.
• Willingness to engage in rotational weekend scheduling.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and assist with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
• Capacity to meet the physical and logistical demands of providing veterinary care in diverse residential settings.
• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks post-hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
