This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
β’ Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain relief, and compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.
β’ Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate within a mobile veterinary care setting.
β’ Conduct physical examinations, clinical evaluations, administer medications, perform sedation and euthanasia, along with other veterinary services as per the role and relevant regulations.
β’ Educate and support pet families in making quality-of-life decisions, exploring end-of-life care alternatives, euthanasia, and aftercare options.
β’ Ensure the maintenance of accurate, timely, and professional veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.
β’ Communicate effectively with pet families, the Heartstrings veterinary medical team, scheduling and support teams, and referring veterinary professionals.
β’ Safely handle, position, and assist with the movement of pets.
β’ Uphold clinical independence, sound medical judgment, professionalism, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.
β’ Exhibit Compassion, Dignity, and Respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.
β’ Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.
β’ Possess, or be eligible to secure, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.
β’ Hold a valid U.S. driver's license and have the capacity to travel safely between scheduled in-home veterinary visits.
β’ Comfortable working autonomously as a mobile veterinarian.
β’ Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during discussions regarding pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life matters.
β’ Availability for participation in rotational weekend scheduling.
β’ Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted and assisting with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
β’ Ability to meet physical and logistical demands in various residential settings.
β’ Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks post-hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
