Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice care, palliative support, quality-of-life assistance, pain and symptom management, along with compassionate euthanasia services.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments within the designated service area.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, administer medications, provide sedation, perform euthanasia, and deliver other veterinary services.

• Educate and support families in navigating quality-of-life decisions, end-of-life care alternatives, euthanasia processes, and aftercare options.

• Ensure accurate maintenance of veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with pet families, veterinary medical teams, scheduling, operations, support staff, and referring veterinarians.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the movement of companion animals.

• Exercise clinical independence, sound medical judgment, professionalism, and reliability while in the field.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

• Capability to travel safely between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfortable functioning independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Strong ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during discussions regarding pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life matters.

• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights of up to 100 pounds.

• Capacity to meet physical and logistical demands in various residential settings.

• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks post-hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
