Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life assistance, pain and symptom management, as well as compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate in a mobile veterinary care setting.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical evaluations, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and various veterinary services in accordance with the position's scope and relevant regulations.

• Educate and support pet families in making quality-of-life choices, exploring end-of-life care alternatives, discussing euthanasia, and arranging aftercare.

• Keep precise, timely, and professional veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Collaborate with pet families, veterinary medical teams, scheduling staff, support personnel, and referring veterinary practices.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the mobility of companion animals.

• Uphold professionalism, clinical autonomy, sound medical judgment, and dependability while working independently in the field.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or otherwise qualifying veterinary institution.

• Must hold, or be eligible to acquire, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

• Capable of safely traveling between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfortable working autonomously as a mobile veterinarian.

• Proficient in communicating with empathy and professionalism during delicate pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life discussions.

• Availability for rotational weekend shifts.

• Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds.

• Competent in fulfilling physical and logistical demands in diverse residential environments.

• Successful completion of applicable background checks and motor vehicle record verification after hiring and prior to the scheduled start date.
