Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, as well as compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.

• Travel autonomously to scheduled appointments in a mobile veterinary care setting.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary services within the scope of practice and applicable regulations.

• Educate and guide families through decisions regarding quality of life, end-of-life care options, euthanasia, and aftercare services.

• Maintain precise veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with pet families, veterinary medical teams, scheduling, support, and referring veterinary colleagues.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the movement of companion animals.

• Uphold professionalism, clinical independence, sound medical judgment, and reliability in the field.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Must possess, or be eligible to obtain, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Valid U.S. driver's license required.

• Ability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfortable working independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey empathy and professionalism during discussions about pet hospice, quality of life, and end-of-life matters.

• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.

• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as needed.

• Ability to meet physical and logistical requirements in various residential environments.

• Successful completion of relevant background checks and motor vehicle record checks following hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
