Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, as well as compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate within a mobile veterinary care setting.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, administer medications, provide sedation, perform euthanasia, and offer other veterinary services within the scope of the position and relevant regulations.

• Educate and support pet families through quality-of-life choices, end-of-life care options, euthanasia processes, and aftercare considerations.

• Ensure accurate maintenance of veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with pet families, the Heartstrings veterinary medical team, scheduling and support teams, and referring veterinary professionals.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the movement of companion animals.

• Uphold clinical independence, sound medical judgment, reliability, and professionalism while working in the field.

• Exhibit Compassion, Dignity, and Respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

• Capability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfortable functioning independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during conversations regarding pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life matters.

• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.

• Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as needed.

• Ability to perform physical and logistical tasks in diverse residential settings.

• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks after hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
