Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, along with compassionate euthanasia services.

• Independently travel to scheduled appointments within the designated service area.

• Operate effectively within a mobile veterinary care setting.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary procedures.

• Educate and support pet families in making quality-of-life decisions, exploring end-of-life care options, euthanasia, and aftercare services.

• Maintain precise veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with pet families, veterinary staff, scheduling, operations, support teams, and referring veterinary professionals.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the mobility of companion animals.

• Uphold clinical independence, sound medical judgment, professionalism, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Possess, or be eligible to secure, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Valid U.S. driver's license.

• Capability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfort in working independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during sensitive discussions about pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life matters.

• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds.

• Capacity to meet the physical and logistical demands of veterinary care in residential settings.

• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks following hire and prior to the scheduled start date.
