Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, as well as compassionate euthanasia services within the designated service area.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate within a mobile veterinary care setting.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, administer medications, provide sedation, perform euthanasia, and execute other veterinary services within the role's scope and applicable regulations.

• Educate and assist pet families in navigating quality-of-life decisions, end-of-life care options, the euthanasia process, and aftercare considerations.

• Maintain precise, timely, and professional veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with pet families, the Heartstrings veterinary medical team, scheduling and support teams, as well as referring veterinary professionals.

• Safely handle and position companion animals, assisting with their movement during in-home appointments.

• Uphold professionalism, clinical independence, sound medical judgment, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.

• Exhibit Compassion, Dignity, and Respect in interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Possess, or be eligible to secure, an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Valid U.S. driver's license required.

• Capability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfortable functioning independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Proficient in communicating with empathy and professionalism during pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life discussions.

• Availability for rotational weekend schedules.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unaided and assist with weights up to 100 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.

• Capacity to fulfill physical and logistical demands in diverse residential environments.

• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks post-hire and before the scheduled start date.
