Homeless Services, HMIS Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Offer subject matter expertise for technical assistance initiatives aimed at preventing and ending homelessness.

• Assist in strategic planning, program and system evaluation, data analysis, system modeling, research, and policy formulation.

• Interpret HUD policies and technical directives, translating requirements into system configurations, data collection practices, and reporting workflows.

• Create efficient and replicable methodologies for reports, analytical products, system administration, and other assigned responsibilities.

• Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring processes for HMIS (Homeless Management Information System).

• Identify system configuration settings, business rules, workflows, and other administrative activities related to the system.

• Produce performance measurement reports, research briefs, training materials, and other professionally crafted documents.

• Establish and document repeatable analytical strategies for both federal and local reporting requirements.

• Collaborate with program, policy, and technical teams to align data solutions with best practices in homeless services and equity objectives.

• Create and maintain HMIS documentation to support the development and delivery of training programs.

• Facilitate the administration and operation of an HMIS for a large Continuum of Care.

• Analyze HMIS data at both system and project levels to generate reports and analytical products that inform strategy and operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Policy, Planning, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.

• At least 2 years of experience directly involved with an HMIS software implementation.

• Comprehensive understanding of HMIS report programming specifications.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while adhering to strict deadlines.

• Experience with Python, R, SQL, or other code-based reporting and scripting frameworks to facilitate report development (preferred).

• Excellent team player with the capacity to take initiative and work effectively independently (preferred).

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines (preferred).
