This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Precisely code hospital inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional fee encounters.

• Utilize ICD-10, ICD-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding systems.

• Assess clinical encounters using Carle electronic medical record systems.

• Offer interdepartmental coding support.

• Create compliant coding processes leveraging CMS publications, Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and other reference materials.

• Enhance revenue while ensuring compliance through auditing, monitoring, training, charge facilitation, claim scrubber activities, and billing research.

• Act as a coding expert for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with coding and billing personnel to guarantee precise charge capture.

• Identify and report on documentation and coding improvement needs.

• Conduct provider and peer coding audits.

• Oversee internal controls related to coding and billing.

• Coordinate external audit activities and communicate findings to administrative personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification as one of the following: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-Based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).

• Certification from AAPC or AHIMA as applicable.

• Maintain coding certification, knowledge, and skills.

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers.

• Familiarity with regulatory coding guidelines, including National and Local Coverage Determinations.

• Capability to use coding software, computer-assisted coding tools, encoders, and electronic medical record systems.

• Skill in performing coding audits and monitoring internal controls.

• Ability to facilitate external audit activities and reporting.

• Availability for full-time day shift.
