This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +7 more states.
• Oversee high-voltage substation and interconnection projects from the engineering phase through commissioning and final closeout.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budget, risk management plans, and essential deliverables.
• Guide and influence EPC contractors, engineering consultants, utilities, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Conduct technical evaluations of substation engineering packages, protection and control designs, equipment specifications, and construction drawings.
• Review and direct high-voltage design documentation, studies, and engineering outputs.
• Ensure adherence to company standards, industry regulations, and pertinent electrical codes.
• Monitor contractor and supplier performance, address issues, and ensure compliance with contractual and technical standards.
• Perform site visits and field assessments to assess progress and tackle technical and construction challenges.
• Identify project risks and formulate mitigation strategies.
• Communicate project status, opportunities, challenges, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Assist in the procurement of major high-voltage equipment and materials.
• Recognize continuous improvement opportunities and promote best practices across the substation project portfolio.
• Proven experience in managing high-voltage substation, transmission, interconnection, or utility infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in reviewing and interpreting high-voltage engineering drawings, specifications, studies, and construction outputs.
• In-depth knowledge of substation design, construction methodologies, protection and control systems, and utility interconnection standards.
• Experience in managing EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and cross-functional project stakeholders.
• Familiarity with NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Valid driver's license.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without the need for visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline is preferred.
• Experience reviewing physical, protection and control, and relay design packages for high-voltage facilities is preferred.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is preferred.
• Experience in managing EPC contracts and contractor performance is preferred.
• Ability to influence technical decisions, manage risks, and foster alignment among diverse stakeholder groups is preferred.
