High School Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Deliver tailored course content in a virtual setting

• Provide instruction, assistance, and support focused on the unique IEP needs of students

• Oversee the learning process and foster student advancement

• Ensure that special education and related services are delivered as determined by the IEP team

• Communicate with parents and relevant service staff about student therapies

• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation

• Facilitate and lead collaborative meetings in special education, including annual IEP meetings

• Utilize assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible texts to offer accommodations and modifications

• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments in accordance with IEPs

• Ensure inclusion and success in the general education environment

• Gather data and work samples to track progress toward IEP objectives

• Record parent interactions and student interventions

• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities

• Maintain a grade book and make decisions regarding placement and promotion

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Build rapport with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues

• Collaborate with educators and administrators to enhance student outcomes

⛳️ Requirements

• Michigan Teaching Certification is mandatory

• Special Education endorsement is required

• Position is remote and available to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

• Bachelor's degree is required

• Active state teaching license is necessary

• Ability to pass the required background check

• Capability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week

• Ability to maintain a professional home office free from distractions

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or as required by the school

• Proficient in interpreting and producing numerical, tabular, and graphical representations of student data

• Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
