High School Social Studies Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Deliver targeted high school social studies course material in a virtual setting

• Provide instruction, assistance, and direction while overseeing the learning process

• Tailor learning experiences to accommodate individual student requirements

• Track student progress via Stride K12’s learning management system

• Collaborate closely with students and parents/learning coaches to enhance learning towards set objectives

• Offer both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities

• Differentiate instruction based on student proficiency

• Supplement course content using approved synchronous and asynchronous resources

• Maintain the gradebook and uphold student academic integrity

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion

• Notify administrators of any concerns regarding student performance and progress

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Establish a positive rapport with families and communicate with students and parents/learning coaches promptly

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues

• Travel for professional development, student assessments, school events, and other school obligations

⛳️ Requirements

• North Carolina High School Social Studies Teaching Certification

• North Carolina teaching certification necessary for out-of-state candidates

• Residency in North Carolina or a bordering state within a 30-mile radius

• Bachelor's degree

• Active state teaching license

• Capability to pass required background checks

• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week

• Capacity to maintain a professional home office without distractions during the workday, typically from 9–5 or 8–4

• Willingness to travel as needed, averaging once per month and/or around 20% of the time

• Experience working with the specified age group

• Background in assisting adults and children with technology usage

• Experience teaching in an online or traditional classroom environment

• Familiarity with online learning platforms

• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data

• Willingness to receive regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Commitment to maintaining teacher certification/professional development hours and proficiency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
