Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Ensure that aircraft and weather conditions meet airworthiness standards for the transportation of medical personnel and patients to receiving hospitals within the designated operational area.

• Adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), as well as Air Methods' policies and procedures.

• Safely and legally operate Air Methods aircraft.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections and confirm aircraft airworthiness through Daily Flight Log sign-off.

• Execute a thorough aircraft walk-around prior to cockpit entry and after each flight.

• Maintain ultimate authority over aircraft operations and ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Keep abreast of aircraft and medical backup systems, ensuring that the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Engage in detailed flight planning with minimal notice to meet exacting standards.

• Actively participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.

• Maintain consistent attendance on a 7-days-on/7-days-off schedule with 12-hour shifts.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Weight must not exceed 250 pounds.

• Candidates must be under seventy (70) years of age.

• Pilots should have flown in category for a commercial operator or in the military within the last 24 months.

• Total flight experience of 2,000 hours, with a minimum of 1,500 hours in category.

• 1,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time in category.

• 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including at least 50 hours at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night time as PIC, with NVG substitution permitted subject to minimum unaided-night requirements.

• 50 hours of total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category.

• Commercial & Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft, or ATP rating in category.

• A First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate is required.

• Must comply with DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements.
