Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and compliant manner.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections and confirm aircraft airworthiness by signing the Daily Flight Log.

• Perform a thorough walk-around inspection of the aircraft prior to cockpit entry and following each flight.

• Act as the final authority regarding aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Keep updated knowledge of aircraft and medical systems for backup aircraft.

• Ensure the medical flight team is well-acquainted and comfortable with the medical interior and its systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Engage in meticulous flight planning with minimal notice.

• Regularly participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.

• Follow a standard schedule of 7 days on/7 days off with 12-hour shifts.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Weight must not exceed 250 pounds.

• Applicants must be under seventy (70) years old.

• Pilots should have flown in the relevant category for a commercial operator or in the military within the past 24 months.

• A total of 2000 flight hours is required, including a minimum of 1500 flight hours in the relevant category.

• A minimum of 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in the relevant category.

• At least 500 hours of rotor wing turbine flight time.

• A minimum of 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours flown at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night flight time as PIC, adhering to specified NVG substitution rules.

• 50 hours of total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in the relevant category, with specified reduction rules for FW-rated RW candidates.

• A Commercial & Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft, unless an ATP rating in the category satisfies this requirement.

• A First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate is required.

• Comprehensive understanding of FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies and procedures.

• Capability to perform detailed flight planning with minimal notice to meet exacting standards.
