Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Operate Air Methods aircraft safely and in accordance with legal regulations.

• Confirm that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to receiving hospitals within the designated operational area.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections prior to each flight and validate airworthiness by signing the Daily Flight Log.

• Perform a thorough walk-around inspection of the aircraft before entering the cockpit and after every flight.

• Hold ultimate authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Stay updated on the aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft.

• Ensure the medical flight team is well-acquainted and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Engage in meticulous flight planning with minimal notice, adhering to high standards.

• Regularly participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.

• Commit to a regular schedule of 7/7 with 12-hour shifts.

• Perform other assigned duties.

• No supervisory responsibilities are involved.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Weight must not exceed 250 pounds.

• Must be under seventy (70) years old.

• Pilots are required to have flown in the category within the last 24 months.

• A total of 2000 flight hours with at least 1500 hours in the specified category.

• A minimum of 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in the category.

• At least 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including a minimum of 50 hours at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night flight as PIC; 50 hours can be replaced with 100 hours of NVG time, but not below 50 hours unaided.

• 50 hours of actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category, with specific rules for fixed-wing substitution.

• An instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft; an ATP rating in the category fulfills this requirement.

• A fixed-wing multiengine rating is required for twin-engine aircraft.

• A commercial single-engine land rating is required for single-engine aircraft.

• A First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate is necessary.

• Compliance with DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements is mandatory.

• Knowledge of FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies and procedures is essential.

• Ability to conduct detailed flight planning with minimal notice.

• Capability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
