Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Operate Air Methods aircraft in a secure and compliant manner.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections and confirm aircraft airworthiness using the Daily Flight Log.

• Perform thorough aircraft walk-arounds prior to cockpit entry and following each flight.

• Hold final authority over aircraft operations and ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Maintain a strong understanding of aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft.

• Ensure that the medical flight team is well-acquainted and at ease with the medical interior and systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Engage in detailed flight planning with minimal notice to meet stringent standards.

• Actively participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within a designated operational area.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Weight must not exceed 250 pounds.

• Must be younger than seventy (70) years old.

• Pilots must have flown in the category within the last 24 months.

• A total of 2000 flight hours, including a minimum of 1500 hours in category.

• 1000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in category.

• 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours flown at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night time as PIC, adhering to specified NVG substitution rules.

• 50 hours of total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category, conforming to specified fixed-wing substitution rules.

• Instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft; ATP rating in category fulfills this requirement.

• Fixed wing multiengine rating is necessary for twin-engine aircraft.

• Commercial single-engine land rating is required for single-engine aircraft.

• First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate is mandatory.

• Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing.

• Regular attendance on a 7/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts is required.

• Knowledge of and adherence to FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies and procedures.
