Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Safely and legally operate Air Methods aircraft.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections prior to each flight and confirm airworthiness through the Daily Flight Log.

• Perform a thorough walk-around of the aircraft before entering the cockpit and after every flight.

• Hold ultimate authority over aircraft operations, ensuring the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Stay acquainted with both aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft utilized in the operational area.

• Ensure that the medical flight team is well-acquainted with the medical interior and systems.

• Complete necessary documentation accurately.

• Engage in detailed flight planning with minimal notice.

• Actively participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach efforts.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

• Transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within the designated operational area while verifying that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for flight.

• Adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations, the Aeronautical Information Manual, General Operations Manual guidelines, and company policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus two to five years of related experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Must fulfill 29 Palms contract requirements.

• Must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds.

• Candidates must be under seventy (70) years of age.

• Must have experience flying in category within the last 24 months.

• A total of 2,000 flight hours is required, including a minimum of 1,500 flight hours in category.

• 1,000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.

• 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours at night.

• Must have 100 hours of unaided night flight time as PIC, adhering to specified NVG substitution rules.

• A total of 50 hours of actual or hood instrument flight time in category, with specified fixed-wing substitution rules.

• 250 PIC hours in an EC-145/BK-117/H-145 for the Twentynine Palms contract.

• Must maintain 100 PIC hours annually.

• Instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft is required; an ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement.

• A fixed-wing multiengine rating is necessary for twin-engine aircraft.

• A commercial single-engine land rating is required for single-engine aircraft.

• A First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate is mandatory.

• Regular attendance on a 14/14 schedule with 12-hour shifts is required.

• Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies and procedures.

• Ability to conduct detailed flight planning to exacting standards with little notice.
