Healthcare Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and enhance enterprise healthcare integrations utilizing HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, XML, JSON, and other interoperability standards.

• Create and maintain HL7 interfaces and FHIR APIs, which includes data mapping, message transformation, routing, and integration logic.

• Work closely with product teams, architects, and stakeholders to establish interface requirements, dependencies, data mappings, and strategies for implementation.

• Convert enterprise architecture and integration patterns into scalable, secure, reliable, and production-ready solutions.

• Set up integration standards, technical documentation, and best practices that focus on performance, security, reliability, and observability.

• Diagnose complex integration and production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and rectify data, interface, and workflow shortcomings.

• Assess and implement integration tools, frameworks, and middleware while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and safeguarding sensitive healthcare data.

• Assist with CI/CD and DevSecOps processes for integration deployments and live implementations.

• Partner with stakeholders on technical communications, training, documentation, and other project-related activities.

• Contribute to the team's objectives and assume additional responsibilities as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in healthcare integration.

• Significant hands-on experience in developing and managing HL7 interfaces and FHIR APIs within enterprise healthcare settings.

• In-depth understanding of healthcare interoperability, encompassing HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON, data mapping, message transformation, and routing.

• Proven experience in taking integration solutions from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting, analysis, and root-cause investigation.

• Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps settings, including collaboration with cross-functional technical teams.

• Excellent communication, prioritization, collaboration, and technical leadership abilities.

• Prior experience with government or federal projects.

• Familiarity with supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal healthcare initiatives.

• Ability to obtain government clearance.

• Experience with CI/CD and deploying containerized applications.

• Familiarity with healthcare integration platforms and middleware.

• InterSystems IRIS Professional certification and/or HealthShare Health Connect Specialist certification.

• Must reside within the continental United States.

• Selected candidates will need to undergo fingerprinting at a government facility and a background check.
