This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Accurately and efficiently process release-of-information requests for patient health information, ensuring compliance with company policies, facility standards, authorization, and HIPAA regulations.
• Uphold the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of company and facility software.
• Follow company and customer-facility codes of conduct and policies strictly.
• Communicate any work-related issues, site challenges, and changes in workload to the manager.
• Oversee patient health records and protect them in accordance with HIPAA standards.
• Create new patient charts using both paper sources and electronic health records.
• Organize medical records in the standard format, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Generate digital images of documentation for electronic medical records.
• Retrieve and send patient records to both internal and external requestors appropriately.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance providers, and attorneys.
• Provide assistance to walk-in patients as required.
• Manage faxes, open mail, conduct data entry, and schedule pickups as necessary.
• Achieve site-specific productivity goals.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to travel between locations as necessary.
• Willingness to work overtime during busy periods when needed.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills.
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment regularly.
• Strong professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Detail-oriented and quality-focused concerning accurate and compliant medical-record information.
• Proficient in data entry.
• Capable of working independently while adapting to changing priorities and job requirements.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Capable of responding to requests in a fast-paced environment.
• This position is not eligible for employment sponsorship.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
• Prior experience in production or metric-based roles is advantageous.
• In-person customer service experience is preferred.
• Ability to foster relationships with on-site clients and customers is a bonus.
• Open to sharing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback with internal stakeholders is a bonus.
