Health Information Specialist I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.

📋 Description

• Accept and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies.

• Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of company and facility software.

• Notify the manager of any work-related issues, site challenges, and variations in workload.

• Manage patient health records and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.

• Prepare new patient charts utilizing both paper and electronic health record systems.

• Organize medical records in the standard order and verify their accuracy and completeness.

• Generate digital images of documents for electronic medical records.

• Retrieve and appropriately send patient records to both internal and external requestors.

• Handle inbound and outbound calls.

• Assist with patient walk-ins and perform administrative tasks, including faxes, mail, and data entry.

• Meet location-specific productivity standards.

• Schedule pickups as required.

• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Ability to travel between locations as necessary.

• Willingness to work overtime during busy periods if needed.

• Basic computer skills are essential.

• Proficient with phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Excellent data entry abilities.

• Capacity to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

• Skill in organizing and managing multiple tasks effectively.

• Capability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment.
