This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engage in roughly 20 weeks of online classroom training.
• Participate in approximately 19 weeks of online hands-on internship/externship training.
• Acquire and implement concepts related to health information and database management to analyze clinical data, identify trends, and generate targeted reports.
• Cultivate expertise in managing health information and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Utilize EPIC, SQL, Tableau, and Crystal Reports for the analysis and reporting of clinical data.
• Comprehend and execute system design, testing, security, privacy, and compliance protocols.
• Prepare for the HIMSS CAHIMS certification examination.
• Address duplicate/overlay cases utilizing designated reports, work queues, emails, and phone communications.
• Examine issues and documentation in logs and databases.
• Merge cases, relocate cases, and add known non-duplicates in accordance with established procedures.
• Review and process information from inbound interfaces and Epic subsystems to guarantee data integrity.
• Compile reports and oversee their completion.
• Troubleshoot and resolve EPIC and other EHR application issues for healthcare personnel.
• Manage data integrity through effective error queue management and precise reporting.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance system efficiency and health information processes.
• Maintain user accounts, workstations, and system configurations.
• Lead system testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance efforts.
• Supervise the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of medical records and patient indexes.
• Safeguard the security and integrity of health information.
• Gather, quality-control, and disseminate data for comparative databases, statistical reports, disease registries, and procedure registries.
• Organize and preserve patients’ medical records and health information.
• Respond to requests for information and documents.
• Update and review medical records, inform healthcare providers of deficiencies, and track outstanding records.
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to privacy policies and regulations.
• Update medical histories and process patient forms, medical histories, and test results.
• Analyze gathered information for accuracy and correctness.
• Evaluate health records and insurance claims.
• Manage and update clinical databases and registries.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Candidates must be residents of California.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a high school diploma or GED certification is required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen/National or possess a valid Lawful Permanent Resident Alien status; non-citizens or Visa holders are not eligible.
• Proficient in computer operations with MS Windows and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Capability to type a minimum of 40 net words per minute.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to HIPAA compliance.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on detail.
• Ability to learn in a self-directed, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving environment.
• Commitment to a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours.
• Completion of online classroom training and remote hands-on internship/externship is mandatory.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required, or an approved medical/religious exemption, prior to program acceptance.
• For on-site internships and externships, compliance with host-site immunization requirements is necessary.
• Tuberculosis testing and drug screening may be required before placement.
• A living stipend of $31,200 distributed over approximately 44 weeks.
• Eligible for monthly benefits reimbursement of up to $600 (participant cost only), subject to restrictions.
• Internet stipend of $35/month for 44 weeks.
