This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead a new team at Kairos to transform promising concepts into innovative programs and determine strategic investments in the AI safety ecosystem.
• Manage one to three early-stage projects simultaneously, guiding them from initial concept to operational status.
• Assess ideas from various sources within the team and the broader ecosystem, including personal suggestions, and advise on which initiatives merit pursuit.
• Develop dependable systems for successful pilot programs and either maintain ownership or transition them to a long-term steward.
• Recruit and oversee team members as projects evolve into a cohesive unit.
• Contribute to shaping the organization's overall strategy, evaluate new programs, and engage in cross-functional initiatives.
• Work in collaboration with AI safety researchers, policy experts, funders, and organizers.
• Travel 3–6 times annually for conferences and events, primarily within the United States.
• Proven experience in bringing a program, organization, product, or community from concept to execution.
• Strong insights into the gaps within the AI safety ecosystem and an understanding of what needs to be developed.
• Adaptability to work within a dynamic environment with an evolving project landscape.
• A profound commitment to mitigating risks associated with advanced AI technologies.
• Preference for candidates who can attend meetings in the Eastern Time zone.
• It is generally expected that applicants can begin within a couple of months of submitting their application.
• Visa sponsorship, particularly for O-1 visas, may be available depending on individual circumstances, though it is not guaranteed.
