This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of Stedi's affirmative disputes, managing them from theoretical frameworks and factual development to demand letters, regulatory complaints, and litigation.
• Establish the case record through strategic planning, investigations, data preservation, and analysis.
• Oversee regulatory enforcement matters in conjunction with litigation efforts, including HIPAA Administrative Simplification complaints as well as state and federal antitrust or insurance regulatory issues.
• Represent the company in commercial, customer, and various other disputes.
• Select, define the scope of, and supervise external counsel, specialists, and budgets.
• Transform disputes into commercial resolutions alongside the CEO and the Legal and Policy teams.
• Develop and automate the litigation infrastructure, encompassing litigation holds, preservation and discovery readiness, privilege management, and matter tracking.
• Provide leadership with accurate assessments and insightful reasoning.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in litigating complex commercial disputes, with first-chair involvement.
• Proven ability to initiate legal matters and construct cases effectively.
• Extensive knowledge in areas such as antitrust, unfair competition, complex contract disputes, and regulatory enforcement.
• Strongly preferred backgrounds in healthcare and technology; substantial experience in another heavily regulated and complex industry may also be considered.
• A resourceful and economical approach to managing outside counsel and budgets.
• Excellent judgment and realistic evaluation of litigation probabilities.
• Superior writing abilities; capable of producing largely independent written work.
• Proficiency in understanding APIs and effectively communicating with engineers.
• Ability to operate swiftly in a fast-paced environment.
• Philosophical alignment with the Stedi Standards.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• Membership in at least one state bar in the U.S.
