This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Develop Kairos Labs, an incubator dedicated to fostering new AI safety initiatives and organizations.
• Determine the types of organizations to be supported, the structure of cohorts versus rolling admissions, duration of programs, support models, and criteria for independence.
• Create the application and selection process.
• Recruit initial projects.
• Set up program operations.
• Provide strategic advice to the founders of Kairos Labs regarding strategy, fundraising, and recruitment.
• Ensure that the operational needs of incubated projects are addressed.
• Define the strategic direction and growth plans for Kairos Labs.
• Assess ecosystem needs and clarify how the program integrates with Kairos’ other initiatives.
• Participate in organization-wide strategy development, new program creation, and collaborative efforts.
• Proven experience in founding an organization or managing a similar incubator, accelerator, fellowship, or fiscal sponsorship program.
• Direct experience with the needs of early-stage organizations.
• Clear perspectives on which AI safety organizations are worth establishing and identifying the most significant gaps in the ecosystem.
• Strong judgment regarding projects and individuals.
• Capability to create a vision from the ground up and execute it independently.
• Deep dedication to ensuring the responsible development of advanced AI.
• Comfort with handling legal, financial, and compliance tasks with expert assistance.
• Willingness or preference to participate in meetings within the ET time zone.
• Availability for travel 3–6 times annually, primarily within the US.
• Visa sponsorship may be available based on circumstances, but is not assured.
